The Best Bad Boy (Chapter Fourteen)

Love was stupid. Love was a delusion of deranged people, used to excuse the most heinous behaviors.

Besides even if love did exist, Lee would never love someone as silly and plain as I was. I was a blank slate. My only flair was my hips.

"Ignore the mess, it's just where we hide the bodies." Chelle's eyes danced with wit. To her, her home wasn't a can of sewage spoiling in the sun, it was normal. She was comfortable.

Lee chuckled and Chelle emerged from her cocoon gleaming. "What do you like to do for fun?"

Lee's hand stroked the curve of my side, his fingers dipped into the waist of my pants. 'Sex,' his body stated but his lips said, "Read mostly." Lee's eyes caressed my face, neck, and traveled down to my pelvis.
What exactly did he mean by that? Was I an open book to him? We still hadn't talked about Senecca, about the rumors.

"What do you like to read?" Even as I asked, Chelle's eyes narrowed. Maybe she wanted me to stay quiet. Did she have an agenda? Was she trying to gauge if he was good enough for me or was she angry that I was the one who his arm pulled close?

"Fantasy." Lee placed a finger on my lips and slowly trailed it across, "Mostly." Our eyes met. My lips burned. My tongue darted out. The salt of his skin met my taste buds with an inferno. My body ached to be closer to his.

"What else?" I asked taking his finger into my mouth and nibbling on it.

His eyes darkened. Everything went silent except his voice in my head, 'You, your body and what it wants.' He sent images of rumpled sheets, naked skin, our bodies twining, the feel of his hot mouth on my bare torso.

A quiet moan escaped and Lee growled his pants filled with an erection.

Out loud he said, "Everything."

I wanted him to tear away my clothing. I wanted to rip off his white tank top, unbutton his pants and...

Chelle's brother Drew came in. "I'm hungry is there any..." Spotting Lee he stopped midsentence his eyes widened, star-struck almost. Drew's dark gaze went up and down Lee with an adoration that wasn't unique to the female gender. Guys wanted to be Lee and girls wanted to fuck him.

Drew was already promising to be just as striking with his tawny blonde hair and body of wiry muscles that although not yet developed were showing hints of the man he would someday become. I wanted to tell Drew to slow down take his time, but I knew it was no use. He was in a rush to grow up faster than any kid I knew.

Often Drew made me the saddest of them all. He wanted so badly just for someone to love him unconditionally, but at every turn, he faced harsh criticisms and neglect.

I withdrew from Lee. "What's the longest book you've ever read?" I needed to cool off. I needed a distraction. I needed to put on the constraints of child-friendly behavior.

Lee didn't take his eyes off me. He studied my body, my fluttering hands. "The Utah law code." His gaze measured my reaction.

Chelle scoured the yellow refrigerator for food. "There's leftover mac and cheese."

I walked outside to cool off. Lee followed. "Why did you read that?" I asked my back to him.

"I was in jail. I'm on probation."

I turned to Lee, his cheeks pinkened. "Oh, do you want to be a lawyer?"

Lee's gaze sharpened. It wasn't the response he expected. Most people hated I wasn't predictable and didn't think along the same worn out paths as everyone else.

Lee stepped closer. His hand went to my waist. He wanted to fuck me long and hard. He liked my brain.

'Zombie,' I thought. The peculiar endearment for him made me smile.

Lee pulled me close. His hot breath in my ear sent chills down my body. "I want to go into computer science."

The sky darkened and a chill wind numbed my skin. Would it be college taking him away? That wouldn't be so bad.

The wind blew harder. My bones shook with the answer. 'No.'

A vision of dark wolves tearing him apart as his screams filled my mind. Blood gushing from his neck and thigh made me weak and dizzy. Whatever was coming for Lee, I was already too late. I wrapped my arms around him and wished for the power to change what was coming.

A Parent's Nightmare

It was supposed to be an ordinary day, but a feeling something was going to go horribly wrong kept me awake the night before. I waited six months, because the first time they mentioned the routine procedure and the risks I knew my daughter was going to end up dead, or brain damaged.  I thought I'd waited long enough. After six months I believed things would be ok.  I told myself to relax and stop being paranoid. I shouldn't have. The anesthesiologist with tears in his eyes told me, "I'm not going to lie, she's not doing good. This is the worst day of my career." He was thinking of his career while my little girl was fighting for her life!?  He felt bad so I said simply, "I know you tried your best," wondering if my happy sweet little girl would ever smile at me again. There was no point in making a scene. It wouldn't save her. It might kill her. I had to step back and breathe. I needed to focus on giving her all the love a

A Girl Can Dream, Right?

Preparing for the cruise, a whirlwind of excitement and anticipation courses through my veins. Amidst sapphire waves and ocean skies, I'm eager to meet with my teammates, especially one sexy beast I've been mentoring late at night, a little too often.  A single man secure enough in his masculinity to be sponsored by a woman he'd never met, it was more likely I'd win the lottery but it happened!  Men that secure, are  as rare as a million dollars popping out of thin air!  Finding one man who would just listen to my dream let alone believe in it and share it, up until him has been impossible... yeah I'm ready to go past first base and then some! As I finish packing, I can't help but indulge in a few tantalizing semi erotic fantasies. From our first conversation, strategizing his path to success, I was completely intoxicated by him. After months of working together, I'm still feeling an  undeniable connection that has nothing to do with business. His confidence

Dreaming of Death

I dreamed I died, my usable organs were donated, and the rest of me was fed to the birds. I requested before I died, those who received my organs would gather once a year to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I dreamed pieces of my flesh were sent out to wildlife sanctuaries around the world.  I dreamed each year, I could see my daughter with my eyes and she could feel my love surrounding her.  I dreamed I soared with eagles, dove into the sea with the ospreys, and traveled the world in ecstasy.  Gradually, I felt myself fading away into the darkness.  My daughter's birthday came again. I lived in her smile and warmth. Like a brilliant sun, she brought life back to the surface. My essence swirled around her, through her. She became my home. I lived in her joy, in her peace I rested. Trees grew from the soil marked with remnants of my flesh, I felt the sun on their leaves, and I felt the cool rich soil bathing their roots. I felt myself in rivers flowing free and wild, splashing
